Background

Editing System Messages is the easiest way to change the User Interface of a MediaWiki (see Manual:Interface). System messages are all part of the MediaWiki: namespace. This page lists some of these messages which have a somewhat special function.

There is a way to load a wiki page in a way which will show which system messages are being displayed: add &uselang=qqx to the URL. With short URLs this can be a bit tricky, but there is a little JavaScript function which will have the same effect.
